2nd Annual CNY SEL Regional Summit
November 5, 2010
Doubletree Hotel, East Syracuse, NY
Attendees called the first regional SEL Summit in 2009 the best conference they had ever attended. The 2009 Summit
- Increased awareness of social and emotional development and its impact on every child’s attitude, motivation, behavior and learning
- Promoted social, emotional and mental health evidence-based programs and practices to advance high-fidelity implementation in our schools and communities
- Provided practical resources and services
Our second annual SEL Summit will be even better as we continue to focus on implementing SEL strategies and exploring systems-change that integrates the mental health and educational systems.
SEL has a growing base of supporters that includes school leaders and policy makers, as well as the teachers and professionals who work directly with children in schools and youth centers. Our 2010 Summit will bring you up to speed on the basics as well as the latest research, developments, and programming.
Last year’s Summit brought together more than 250 educators, school administrators, school and community mental health professionals, parents, and early education providers from Onondaga, Cortland, Madison, Cayuga and Oswego counties. Kristin Riley, Deputy Commissioner, NYS Office of Mental Health, gave the opening address. The keynote address was delivered by
Linda Lantieri, author and founding member of CASEL (Collaborative to Advance Social and Emotional Learning).
Contact Community Services; its affiliate, the Mental Health Association of Onondaga County; OCM-BOCES and It’s About Childhood and Family, Inc. are sponsoring the event with financial support from United Way of Central New York.
